lyrics

You’ll find these men after a long day of work
Looking for a drink, a laugh, but most of all each other
Roughly shaped hands from the labour on the ships or docks
The task awaiting them tomorrow, they can’t bother
They come to drown their personal pains
The daily sorrow they want to forget
It shouldn’t take long before they get some rest
But not before the latest news, not just yet

First couple of pints were enough to chase their frowns away
Their eyes, they narrow as the juicy tales come to life
The setting sun starts to lighten up their days
They role their coins as soon as time begins to fly
Fountains of laughter as they gently bend the rules of truth
Refusing to remember home, no they can’t go to bed
They told their story but want to hear the others, too
So still no time to leave, no, not just yet

Now the time has come for them to scare the rising sun away
A story’s a good story only when it amazes
It’s been already the second time the waves conquered the shore today
Still the astonishment keeps lightning up their faces
This is the place where togetherness fills up the room
And where by now whisper gets overwhelmed by shout
It’s obvious this evening has to end real soon
But not just yet, not just before they sing out loud

Whee oow, whee oow, never sing, dance or drink alone
Whee oow, whee oow, we still don’t wanna go home
